Hi! Welcome to my place on the interwebs

My name is Delia Marsellos-Traister. In a nutshell, I am a jewelry artist, photographer and metal clay arts instructor.
Here’s a little background
A bunch of things have happened – mostly on purpose – you know, I was born; grew up; spent time in assorted educational institutions; had jobs – some I thought might be careers . . . and then . . .
In January of 2007 I decided to be the artist I always wanted to be. I began to dabble in the creative art of metal clay and was revisiting some of my photography and what to do with it.
With metal clay there is so much that can be expressed and created. I really see the possibilities rather than any limitations. It has been a perfect playground for me. Creation is an expression of who I am and how I think and feel and I am currently loving what I do. I find inspiration in people, places and things.
I exhibit and sell my jewelry creations and small sculpture work at Crafted at the Port of Los Angeles as well as sell from my Etsy shop. I also teach metal clay art. I occasionally enter my photography for juried exhibits and frequently put my pic-work on blank note cards to share
I believe you will find my expressions unique. They are always a compilation of life as I see it; past, present, future . . . and you’ll enjoy owning an original, handcrafted adornment. My work should resonate for you and when you wear it, it will be an expression of you.
When I teach, I teach from the perspective that there is possibility and transformation that takes place. We are all artists, we create everyday, even when we don’t think so. Creating art is good for the soul and sharing it with others is even better. I give you the framework, the basics, the techniques and then I say, ‘now . . . go fly’.
My preferred clay is PMC Silver (Precious Metal Clay) – my favorite clay is PMC+.
Metal clay is an art medium of clay binder (flour based) combined with fine metal particles. Formed, dried and then fired (torch or kiln) – the binder burns off and the creator is left with fine metal. The material comes in silver, gold, copper, bronze and other base metals – from several manufacturers.
I am a Certified PMC Artisan, through Rio Grande. I am a Level 3 Certified Artisan through PMC Connection and recently was made a Certification Instructor with PMCC.
I am the proud parent of two children, Shane and Devon. My son, Shane, is currently a Middle School Teacher in the bay area. My daughter Devon, is a HS student and an artist and dancer. I am also responsible to four, four-legged creatures; Jelly Bean the Pitbull-Boxer-wanna be lap dog; Thor, the Boston Terrier, gawd of butt-thunder; Artemis (or Arty), the shy unassuming Chihuahua that never fails to get under your feet; and last but certainly not least, Magic the Kitteh, an Himalayan kitty that is so cute it hurts
Thus far, I’ve lived a bunch o’ years of events . . . adventures . . . challenges. If you chose to experience more about me, observe this site and you will learn more.
NOW – go make something . . . every day . . . even if it’s trouble
